Board Member Highlight - Katelyn Mack

Katelyn Mack, president and chief operating officer of LINC, was introduced to Communities In Schools of Eastern PA (CIS) through the program’s board chair, Karianne Gelinas. Today, Katelyn serves as a board member for CIS and sits on the board’s governance committee. 

Katelyn first learned of the Communities In Schools model when she served as the vice president of impact and evaluation for the Boys & Girls Club of Peninsula over five years ago. Located in California, the Boys & Girls Club works to empower students with equitable access to opportunities both in and out of school. 

She was first introduced to CIS National when reviewing various student support models for the Boys & Girls Club. She said she resonated deeply with CIS’s approach to integrated student support and its substantial presence in Eastern Pennsylvania. 

In 2022, Katelyn left California to support LINC, a nonprofit organization serving Lehigh Valley and Pocono employers. The following year, Katelyn decided to get involved with CIS as its commitment to fostering opportunities for young people aligned deeply with her value of empowering students. 

“I chose to get involved because I believe in the transformative power of education and the importance of providing students with the resources they need to thrive,” Katelyn said. 

Katelyn uses her expertise in organizational strategy to guide and strengthen CIS’s programs and expand their reach. As a board member, Katelyn works to support ongoing efforts to remove barriers for students and help students thrive in and out of the classroom. She said she’s “inspired by the dedication of the CIS staff and fellow board members in serving our region’s students and their families.” 

Katelyn hopes to continue building partnerships through CIS to connect more schools and families with vital resources. Outside of her work with CIS and LINC, Katelyn enjoys spending time with her family, exploring the Lehigh Valley and trying new recipes.
