Board Member Highlight: Maureen Gorman

Maureen Gorman, an Estates & Trusts Attorney for Stevens & Lee Full Service Law Firm, has been a member of the CIS of Eastern PA (CIS) board since August of 2023. Now a law school graduate and practicing attorney, Maureen said she first learned about CIS during her undergraduate years.

While a college student at Villanova, Maureen said she first heard about CIS from talking to a classmate of hers in the Villanova Tax Program who happened to be a CIS board member. She said CIS’s mission stood out to her because she felt it “fulfills a great need in our community by helping students overcome obstacles to achieve their full potential.”

As a board member, Maureen engages in discussions about CIS’s goals and the steps that need to be taken to achieve them. As a member of the Community Relations Committee, she assists in planning fundraising events by reaching out to members of the community to educate them on the organization’s mission.

Maureen said that she is incredibly proud of what CIS has been able to accomplish in the time she has been a member of the board, particularly the success of CIS’s latest Champions for Education Celebration, which she helped design.

Outside of her work with Community in Schools of Eastern PA and Stevens & Lee, Maureen enjoys gardening, biking with her husband and painting.
