Board Member Highlight- Sandy Green
Sandy Green joined the Communities in Schools of Eastern PA (CIS of Eastern PA) board in September 2023 through a referral from a Berks County school district superintendent. CIS of Eastern PA’s mission deeply resonated with her commitment to community and educational development. After seeing the organization’s impactful work in supporting students by addressing barriers to success in school and life, she decided to get involved and take the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the mission.
In her role on the board, Sandy provides valuable insights from her background in local government and community relations. Sandy was the mayor of Kutztown, PA, for more than a decade, and she cares deeply about her community. Using her experience, she hopes to continue advocating for resources and partnerships that enhance CIS of Eastern PA’s impact, particularly within Berks County. Sandy is proud of the strides she’s made in leveraging her connections to strengthen the organization’s presence in Berks, helping it to address the unique challenges faced by students in the area. She has played a key role in supporting students' educational journeys across the county.
Outside her board responsibilities, Sandy enjoys traveling and exploring new places on her bicycle. She cherishes quality time with her family, especially with her grandsons, Penn and Orson.
We’re thankful to have Sandy as part of the CIS of Eastern PA board, where her dedication to community and student success continues to make a lasting difference.
