Mack Garvin - Alumni Coordinator
We've all said it at one point or another: "I wish I knew then what I know now."
This sentiment is what fuels Mack Garvin's dedication to sharing the wealth of knowledge he's gained throughout his life with high school students. As the Alumni Coordinator for CIS of Eastern PA, Mack plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between education and real-world success. In this newly established position, he works closely with students across the 12 high schools served by the organization in Eastern Pennsylvania. Mack is passionate about building lasting relationships with students during their high school years and continues to serve as a trusted resource for them long after they graduate, guiding them through the next steps in their journey.

Mack will also lead the local chapter of the CIS Alumni Network, to offer graduates a sense of community and belonging after high school. The Alumni Network includes any student who was supported through CIS of Eastern PA case management at any point during middle school and high school. The network will provide guidance, career advice, or simply offer emotional support to former students facing similar challenges post-graduation.
Students are introduced to Mack through the Site Coordinator at each high school, who helps facilitate their connection. Mack then mentors students through an engaging 8-week workshop, offering invaluable lessons on financial literacy, expert guidance on job applications, college and scholarship application support, and practical advice on successfully navigating life’s challenges. His approach combines actionable skills with thoughtful insights, empowering students to make informed decisions for their future.
Some of these topics require in-depth and sometimes uncomfortable conversations. Oftentimes, students may not have someone at home that can guide them through these topics. That’s where Mack can step in and provide one-to-one support to tackle any issue that the student may be dealing with. “I’m looking to help students with the anxiety they may experience when talking about life during and after high school,” said Garvin.
In May, Mack is excited to celebrate with all the graduating seniors at the annual CIS of Eastern PA “Ready, Set, Graduate!” event.
